Salt Substitutes in Baked Goods

 

When baking, people usually add a pinch of salt to bring out the flavor of the baked good. However, a salt substitute for baking might be desired if people really don’t like the taste of salt in the food.

Salt is healthy and necessary. It has iodine that prevents Goiter which is an enlarging of the glands in the throat.

However, sometimes people run out of salt or are baking for people who are on a low salt diet due to high blood pressure.

In these instances, it is a good idea to use another flavoring to enhance the taste of the item. That can be vanilla or caramel which give a lovely taste to anything baked. Some people might want to add almond extract, but be prepared for this to give the dish a nutty flavor. If a person is feeling adventurous, the person can add peppermint extract to give the dish a peppermint taste.
